Want to be healthier by just adding one simple thing to your diet?

That’s right, I said it. ONE thing can not only make you healthier, but helps your vital organs function properly, eliminate waste and toxins from the body, and make you look years younger. It’s not a pill, nor is it an expensive cream from Nordstrom, or something injected by a surgeon. It’s water. And if you are anything like the majority of the population, who is dehydrated, you aren’t drinking enough of it.

But, what happens when you don’t like drinking water? Well, you get creative, naturally. Without adding any sweeteners or artificial flavoring you can make some amazing, inexpensive and tasty waters that will leave you wanting to actually drink them. Here are some of my personal favorites that I brew for my clients daily at my spa in San Diego.

The first is Strawberry, Orange and Apple Infused Water. It’s a great starting point for those of you who aren’t too adventurous with flavors just yet. The key to all of the infused waters is to make them the night before you plan on drinking them to ensure that by the next morning the flavors are all there. Make sure to only reuse the fruit for 24 hours to ensure freshness.

 

For this recipe you need:

1 gallon of water

1 red apple (your choice)

1 orange (peeled, unless organic)

Approx 15 strawberries

Chop everything up, throw it in the bottom of a pitcher, pour water in, and place in fridge overnight.

Strawberry, Orange and Apple Water

Raspberry Peach Water
1 gallon water
1 basket red raspberries
1 whole peach, or two cups frozen peaches

Watermelon, Orange and Basil (now we are talking!)

1 gallon water
2 cups cubed watermelon
1 orange, peeled or organic
handful of fresh basil (the trick to the basil is to lightly squish it in your hand before you throw it in there)

Blackberry Lime

1 gallon of water
1 basket blackberries
1 lime (peeled or organic)

Watermelon Rosemary (yep, you heard me!)

1 gallon of water
2 cups cubed watermelon
2 sprigs of fresh rosemary

Pineapple Mint

1 gallon water
2 cups (or more) cubed pineapple
handful of mint (squished in your hand)

Starbucks Mix (aka cantaloupe, honey-dew, and grapes)

I jokingly call this the Starbucks mix, because it’s the same combination of fruits that is in their little fruit cup you can buy.

You need two cups grapes (red is best)
1 cup cantaloupe
1 cup honey dew
1 gallon water

Grapefruit and Mint

This one wasnt a solid winner for me, as grapefruit often leaves a bitter taste to it. But, if you can find “sweet grapefruit” from your local farmers market this could be a 10!

1 gallon water
1 whole grapefruit, peeled
handful of fresh mint

Apple pomegranate

2 whole apples (red variety) sliced
1 gallon water
half of a pomegranate (or you can be lazy like I was and buy them already out of the fruit. Then use two cups)

Peach & Sage

I loved this one! I imagine apricot would also be great with sage. Can you imagine baking those two ingredients to make a sauce for your chicken? Um, yum!

1 gallon water
2 whole peaches
2 springs of fresh sage

Orange Basil Water

This one seemed to be a spa favorite and was very refreshing on those hot days.

1 gallon water
2 oranges, peeled or organic
handful of basil

These are just SOME of the many waters I have tried. I will be branching out and experimenting with more in the future. Please take a moment to try these, and let me know which is your personal favorite. It’s an easy, inexpensive way to make you healthier one sip at a time.

K is: a published and professional writer of fiction, poetry, plays and lyrics. She has won National playwriting competitions for her work. She has written and directed plays, in addition to performing In several large-scale theater shows. She has experience acting for TV, and stage in addition to modeling for several large companies. She has a background in music as a self-taught pianist and comes from a musical family. Her father is guitarist and singer for a well-known surf band and her brother leads a reggae/ska band. She owned a spokesmodel and talent company for five years and was the director of a pageant for the city of Temecula for 6 years. She is also a speaker and presenter at various events.

 

P is: a professional photographer who started his craft at age 12. He has worked with some of the top teams in Nascar as a front tire carrier during the pit stops. He has had a career in media for over 10 years as a graphic designer and photographer. He has worked with several national country superstars in additions to legends like KISS, AC/DC, Taylor Swift and Maroon 5. He spends his time in Northern California and shoots for various magazines, and companies. He is a veteran of the US Army.
